Embroidery Hoop Fresh Flower Arrangement

Last week I had scored myself a bunch of fresh flower arrangement.. for free! And one of the arrangements seemed a little bit sparse, so I wanted to give it a fresh new look. I love unconventional floral arrangements, and I love anything that has to do with embroidery hoops!

So I had combined my two love and arranged this, if I must say so myself, lovely piece. I even have managed to take photos while I did it, so major win for me and you.

I had basically done it with just about anything that I had lying around the house (since I wasn’t expecting to get free flowers in the first place). So this might not be the best way to do it, but it get the job done.

WHAT I HAD USED:

Embroidery hoop, Karysma
Tissue paper
Aluminium Foil
Masking tape
Scissor
Twine

METHOD:

1. Since the flowers were already in an arrangement, I didn’t have to cut them to length. A good mantra to have when dealing with fresh flowers, especially if you want it to last is that, flowers need water. A good way to provide these flowers with a source of water is by wrapping the stem with tissue paper (I used 3 or 4 tissue papers per bunch), dip it in water briefly, and wrap the now soaked tissue paper covered stem with a piece of cut aluminium foil. That’s how I basically prepped all the flowers to be attached to embroidery hoop.

2. How to attach the prepped flowers onto the embroidery hoop: I think the common method is to use a wire? I had those twist ties lying around and had attempted to attach the flowers onto the embroidery hoop using those. Until the ties ended being not long enough to attach the second batch of flowers. So, I went plan B – masking tape. Masking tape does wonders if you ask me, they were so much easier to work with (and sturdy too)! I had wrapped the aluminium bit to the embroidery hoop using a piece of masking tape that could wrap around it twice.

3. For the last bunch of flowers, I didn’t want the aluminium foil to be seen anywhere, so I opted to leave them completely bare naked. They didn’t have any source of water, so that’s the main reason why I chose those specific flowers as the last bunch. These suckers don’t need a lot of water to survive, It’ll last throughout the whole entire event without wilting there and then. I secured them onto the embroidery hoop using masking tape and wrapped the masking tape with twine for a more refined finish.

4. For the finishing touch, I had wrapped the top bit of the embroidery hoop (where the flowers start) with some twine too to give it some symmetry. And voila, all done!

It took me 30 minutes to figure out what I was going to do with the original lackluster arrangement, and another 30 minutes to turn it into another great piece with the remaining fresh flowers that had a little bit of life in them.. and what do you know, it made me happy for the rest of the day! LOL.
