I’ve always wanted to do a super fresh and compact all-green centerpiece. And you’re in luck, I’ve caught it all on camera!
So for this posy, I had used green poms poms and Yellow peacock leaves, which I bought for RM13.78 and RM9.55 per bunch respectively. For a posy using a 6cm diameter vase (rent here), I had used at most 1/12 of the bunches for both the pom poms and the peacock leaves. So with approximately RM25.00 worth of flowers (flowers also kena GST okay), you can get 12 arrangements for RM2.10 each! And with JRIM’s glass vase, it’d round you up to RM 2.60 each only!
Ka-ching.. Another affordable center piece peeps!
So on with the actual tutorial, fill the glass vase 2/3 through. The next step is to rid the leaves from the stems of the pom poms. I had used a thorn stripper, it gets the job done in mere seconds! It costs around RM13.00 at the florist for one. But if you don’t have one, just pluck them by hand or use scissors. It’ll take longer but gets the job done anyways.
Next, grab a handful of the pom poms from the bunch and cut them to length. For the glass vase that I was using (14cm height) I had cut the stems from 14cm to 17cm in length. The basic rule is, taller for the center and shorter stems as you work your way to the rim of the vase.
Working with the longer stemed pom poms, gather them up and start working your way around the bunch with shorter stems as you go outwards.. Once you’ve reached 6cm in diameter, insert the pom pom bunch into the glass vase.
Moving on to the yellow peacocks, I had cut them to a length of 25cm. Fan the leaves out a little bit and insert to one side of the posy arrangement. Insert more pom poms if the posy doesn’t look full enough. Rearrange the pom poms so that the posy looks rounded with it being taller in the center and shorter at the rims. Look below for visuals for this arrangement!
And there you go, a green and fresh centerpiece done!
